After graduating from college with an art degree, Lisa took some time to focus on her husband and family. After her kids grew a little, she could spend more time on her art. She mainly uses oils, liking the way the paint flows and mixes on the canvas. Lisa is fascinated with flowers because they seem common and simple, but looking closer reveals complicated structures and colors. She loves seeing the colors inside of colors – the subtle blues, yellows and purples that make up a white petal for instance – and then bringing those subtleties out on the canvas. Painting flowers has taught Lisa how to capture the small details in other parts of life.
